SwiftJPEG

SwiftJPEG is a viewer for JPEG images for RISC OS. You can find out more about RISC OS here. If you are looking for a JPEG viewer for another operating system, you will have to search elsewhere; for Windows, I recommend IrfanView.

Main and Zoom menus

The current release of SwiftJPEG is version 1.13 (07-Aug-2012), which has been tested on RISC OS 3.10 under emulation, 3.70 on Risc PC hardware and 5.16 on the Iyonix. The User Guide for this release is currently available in PDF and HTML formats. You can view the PDF User Guide on RISC OS using the RISC OS PDF viewer or software such as Adobe's PDF viewer on other platforms.

Third party add-ons

Vertical toolbar Stewart Brookes sent me this really neat, tiny little toolbar that floats above the horizontal scroll bar in the SwiftJPEG Display window. It uses the ButtonBar module by The Flying Pig and a version of that support module is included in the archive.

Horizontal toolbar

You can also get a modified version of the button bar file which I edited based on Stewart's original. It gives a more traditional !Draw-style toolbar that floats to the left of the Display window. To use the file, make sure you download the main button bar archive too. Note that redraws will slow down if the toolbar overlaps the area where the JPEG is displayed.

Since Stewart used an editable toolbar format, you can also design your own toolbars, or modify his, using The Flying Pig's editor software, included in the buttonbar archive (you may be able to find a newer version of the Button Bar support module here too). Since the toolbar works very well as is and provides lots of flexibility, I have no current plans to integrate this feature into the core application - it's nice having it as an optional plug-in.

Many thanks to Stewart Brookes for permission to distribute his work here, and to The Flying Pig for the excellent ButtonBar module.
